In 1731, Shen Quan arrived to Japan at the official invitation. During his two years in Nagasaki, the artist taught a large number of students, the most talented of whom was Kumasiro Juhi, who later became the founder of the Nampin-ha school (from the Japanese pronunciation of Shen Nanping - Xing Nampin) and the teacher of such famous artists as So Siseki , Mori Ransai , Kakutei , Maruyama Oko , Ganku, and others.
