Biography
Born on November 1, 1919 in the town of Tarashcha, now the Kiev region of Ukraine, into a peasant family, Ukrainian, member of the CPSU since 1943.
He graduated from the Tarashchansky College of mechanization and electrification of agriculture.
In 1939 he began serving in the Red Army . In 1940 he graduated from the Krasnodar Military Aviation Pilot School. On the fields of the Great Patriotic War since July 1941. He fought on the Leningrad front , the Voronezh and the 1st Belorussian fronts.
In June 1942, a group of Soviet troops of the Leningrad Front was surrounded by Malaya Weaver, it was necessary to supply food and ammunition. They could be dropped from aircraft, mostly at night. Among others, Navrotsky was also engaged in this.
Transport planes circled over a small platform, choosing a place where it would be more accurate to dump the load. Suddenly, enemy fighters flew. Soviet fighters accompanying cargo planes began a battle with the enemy. From the ground, the enemy attacked Soviet aircraft with anti-aircraft artillery and machine guns. Despite this, the cargo was still delivered.
Soon the regiment in which Nawrotsky served, received new types of aircraft, and the crews began preparations for night bombardments deep in the rear of the enemy. One of such facilities was the Shchigry station near Kursk , near which there were depots of fuel and ammunition.
The first aircraft to fly on the mission with navigator Navrotsky. The lieutenant accurately plotted the course, led the plane to the target, and the warehouses were destroyed with an exact bombing strike.
After the defeat of the German invaders on the Volga navigator Navrotsky participated in the battles on the Kursk Bulge , striking enemy communications and clusters of manpower and equipment.
In the battle for the Dnieper, fulfilling the responsible tasks of the command, he made dozens of sorties to the location of the advanced parts of the front. Delivered the advancing troops weapons, ammunition, fuel, evacuated the wounded.
On a dark autumn night in 1944, the crew of Navrotsky was given the task of bombing the port of Klaipeda. After the bombs were dropped, the enemy fighter began chasing the plane. The aircraft commander and flight mechanic were seriously injured. Having provided them with first aid, navigator Navrotsky took control of the aircraft and landed safely on his airfield.
From July 1941 to June 1944, Navrotsky made 268 night and 115 day missions. Aptly bombed the enemy in the area of Stalingrad, Orel, Kursk, Vyazma, and Gomel, and also dropped 240 tons of bombs on various enemy targets, transported 180 tons of cargo, evacuated 375 wounded, transported 240 people to the rear of the enemy to partisans.
By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 5, 1944, for more than 380 combat sorties, skillful and precise defeat of the enemy with bombing strikes and the courage and heroism of the guard shown to senior Lieutenant Navrotsky Mikhail Karpovich awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal star ”(№ 5265).
In 1952, Navrotsky retired. He lived in Kiev. He died on July 9, 1991. He was buried in Kiev at Berkovets cemetery .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , the Red Banner , World War 1 st and 2 nd degree, the Red Star, medals.
