Rīgas radiofons (1925-1940)

In 1925, the Rīgas radiofons (Riga Radio Broadcasting) company was established, which broadcasts on medium waves ^{[1] [2] [3]} .

State Radio and Television of the Latvian SSR (1940-1990)

After joining the USSR in 1940, the Rigas radiofons was reorganized into the Committee for Radioification and Broadcasting under the Council of People's Commissars of the Latvian SSR (Radio Committee of the Latvian SSR). The radio station was named LR ( Latvijas Radio - “Latvian Radio”), becoming a republican time slot within the Comintern Radio Station , the relay of which began through the Riga radio transmitter. In 1941-1944, the Hauptsender Riga radio station was broadcast through the same radio transmitter. ^[four]

In 1953, the Radio Committee of the Latvian SSR was reorganized into the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Culture of the Latvian SSR (Radio Administration of the Latvian SSR), and in 1957, the State Committee of the Latvian SSR on Television and Radio Broadcasting (State Radio and Television of the Latvian SSR). ^[four]

LR (since 1990)

In 1990, the State Radio and Television of the Latvian SSR was divided into Latvian television and Latvian radio (LR). Since 1993, Latvian Radio has been a member of the European Broadcasting Union . In 1995, LR launched the LR 2 radio channel, the LR radio channel was renamed LR 1 , January 6, 1996 LR launched the LR 3 radio channel, December 1, 2002 - Latvijas Universitātes Radio NABA (later - Latvijas Radio 6 Radio Naba ), July 14, 2013 - LR 5 .
