The green shield symbolizes the natural resources of the area, the main territory of which is occupied by forests. They have not only natural-ecological, but also industrial significance. The azure pillar symbolizes water resources, both natural and artificially created ( Volga-Baltic Canal , Sheksninskoye Reservoir ), which play an important role in the life of the region ( Sheksninskaya Hydroelectric Power Station ). The silver boat entering the green gateway gateway symbolizes the historical significance and development of the waterway, which has become a large transport route, which is of great importance for the economy of the region. Two silver waves symbolize the confluence of the Sheksna and Ugly rivers, where the village of Nikolskoye stood - the place where the Sheksna began to grow and develop.
