Biography and career
Qin Xianglin was born in Nanjing in 1948 in a family from Huanggang County, Hebei Province of the Republic of China, and later moved to Hong Kong with his family.
At the age of 12, the future actor enrolled in the Beijing Opera School of Taiwan State College of Performing Arts . Returning from there after 8 years, Qin Xianglin settles in the staff of the Guo Tai Movie studio, starring in martial arts films.
The early filming period in Hong Kong does not bring Charlie Chin notable fame, real success has come to him since the beginning of the 1970s when filming in Taiwan in films of a romantic genre. This period included his repeated partnership in romantic films with Singaporean actor Ng Jin Han (better known as Chin Han) and actresses Bridget Lin and Joan Lin, informally known as “Two Chin and Two Lin” and served as a box office success forecast in those years.
In 1975 and 1977, Charlie Chin twice won the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actor in the films Long Way From Home and Far Away From Home . Later, he himself serves as the presenter at the award ceremony of the same festival in 2000.
In all, for his nearly almost 25-year-old film career, the actor starred in no less than 126 films, of which about half were made by Taiwan film studios.
In the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, Charlie Chin was married for several years to two famous actresses - Josephine Xiao (1975-1979) and his frequent partner, Bridget Lin (1980-1984).
Since the early 1990s, he has moved away from the film industry. Currently lives under Los Angeles ( California , USA ) with his wife Cao Changli (since 1988) and two sons born in 1988 and 1991. [3] [4] , is engaged in real estate business.
