It was founded by the State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade of the Kazakh SSR in the city of Alma-Ata in 1975 on the basis of the main editorial board of children's literature of the Zhazushi publishing house and the youth edition of the Kazakhstan publishing house with the aim of producing fiction and socio-political literature for children and youth, literature on music and art. The first editor was K. Idrisov [1] .
It produced a series: “The Land of the Native”, “People of Interesting Fate”, “Globe”, “Our Leniniana” and others.
In 1979, 251 books and brochures were published in over 5.7 million copies.
Publishes the Kazakh literary and art journal " Zhalyn ".
