General Information
The project was created in 1974 by the Belgian Julien Mampay under the name Juma Racing . The team participated in various regional series and is best known for their victories in the daily marathon at Spa , where its pilots were the best in 1977, 1982 and 1983.
In 1994, Bart Mompai separated from his father's team, creating his own organization Team RBM . The first series, which announced a new team, was one of the local monocups BMW .
The team gradually gained experience in dealing with increasingly experienced rivals and in 2002 entered the ETCC . For several years, with the support of the Bavarian concern, the team has grown to an equal fight with the leaders of the series and in 2005, in the last season of the series, its pilot Andy Priaulx became the European champion.
In 2005, European touring was transformed into a World Cup. The Belgians remained in the series, but reduced the application to the limit, working on an ongoing basis only with the Priol machine. The move had a positive effect on the results - for three seasons the Hernsian became the strongest pilot on the planet. Gradually, the advantage of Bavarian technology over its competitors decreased - in 2008 her teams lost the title for the first time, in 2010 the German brand reduced its presence in the series and RBM was chosen as its only team. The decision did not justify itself and once again losing a personal title BMW curtailed its participation in the series. Following them, Mompai also left the championship.
In 2012, the BMW Team RBM returned to racing. The Bavarians prepared a new car for the requirements of the DTM series and came there in three teams, one of which was the team of Mampaya. The pilots were chosen Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus , who worked with the brand since the time of world touring.
