Mikhalkovich is the Novgorod boyar clan , whose representatives were posadniks and played a significant political role in the life of Novgorod in the second half of the 12th – mid- 13th centuries . Represented the boyar political grouping of Prusskaya Street , which consisted of constant relations with the Kiev and Smolensk Rostislavichs from the genealogical line of the elder Monomakhovichs. Repeatedly deprived of posadnichestvo as a result of uprisings. Only Stepan Tverdislavich managed to rule for a long time (almost 13 years) and die a posadnik. During Stepan’s posadnichestvo, an alliance was concluded between the boyars and the prince, as a result of which the management of Novgorod was mutual. Mikhalkovich, in addition to government affairs, were engaged in the construction of churches on Prusskaya street. Tverdislav was honored to be buried in the Arkazhsky Monastery of St. Virgin Mary , and his son Stepan in St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod.
