Biography
Born on March 27, 1954 in the village of Vereshchaki, Novozybkovsky District, Bryansk Region, in a family of a collective farmer. Russian. He studied at Vereshchak secondary school, graduated from 10 classes.
Army Service
He was drafted into the Soviet Army in September 1971 by the Novozybkovsky District Military Commissariat of the Bryansk Region. In 1975 he graduated from the Tashkent Higher Tank Command Order of the Lenin School named after P. S. Rybalko . Member of the CPSU since January 1975. He served in the Red Banner North Caucasus , Order of Lenin, Transbaikal , Red Banner Belorussian and Red Banner Turkestan military districts.
For two and a half years, since November 1981 , was part of a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan . Captain (10.16.1981).
Feats
During his service in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, he participated in 122 types of military operations (the implementation of intelligence, ambush operations and raid operations).
So, on December 18, 1981, while blocking the settlement of Amrud as a result of a bold tactical decision, an accurate assessment of the situation, and a correct forecast of events by the company under his command, 32 rebels, an Islamic committee, 23 anti-tank mines were destroyed; captured - 14 rebels, 28 units of small arms; two banners of Islamic committees were taken. Personally, he destroyed 12 rebels and captured 3, and was wounded during the battle.
On May 4, 1982, at the critical moment of the battle, the village of Dargar was not at a loss when the rebel superior forces arrived, and when the company lay under the enemy’s sudden crossfire from the fortress, he led the breakthrough group, burst into the fortress and personally destroyed 15 bandits 3 captivated.
On November 4, 1982, in the area of the settlement of Karyaini, having correctly determined the moment of the decisive blow by the company against the numerous Mujahideen detachment, he personally led the attack, during which 118 Mujahideen along with the leader of the detachment were killed, 18 Mujahideen were captured, personally destroyed 7 in hand-to-hand fighting Mujahideen, he was wounded, but continued to conduct military operations, inspiring the personnel with bold and decisive actions by personal example.
On August 29, 1983, near the village of Bartakht, in an incredible battle with the rebels, for 4 hours the wounded man led the fighting of the company and destroyed 14 rebels himself.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 23, 1984, for the courage and heroism shown in providing international assistance to the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, Captain Pugachev Fedor Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 11502).
After Afghanistan
He graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . He continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the USSR , and since 1991 - in the Russian Federation . In 1991-1992 he commanded the 69th motorized rifle Proskurovsky Red Banner Order of the Suvorov and Kutuzov Regiment . He commanded the military unit number 40961.
After Service
Lives in the city of Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Region. He is an adviser to the Head of the Solnechnogorsk municipal district .
