Biography
Born in Tottenham in 1868. The son of construction engineer James Conder Mary Ann Aires. He was the second son of six children. The first years of his life he spent in India . In 1884, at the age of 16, he was sent to Sydney, where he worked with his uncle. After graduation, he entered the civil service in Australia , but in 1890 decided to devote himself to art: for several years he studied in Paris , where in 1893 he became an employee of Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts . He also attended painting lessons of Alfred James Daplin. In 1895 he gained a reputation as an original artist, but was known to a greater extent in narrow circles of art lovers. He worked mainly in the pastoral genre. In the last years of his life he suffered a lot from diseases, he died on February 9, 1909.
