Biography
The early years
La Havas was born in London to a family of Greek father and mother of Jamaican origin and grew up in the districts of Tuting and Stretam, after divorcing her parents spending most of her time with her grandparents [7] . At the age of seven, she began to sing [8] and, when she was eleven, composed the first song. According to the singer, dissimilar musical tastes of parents had a great influence on her development [8] . Her mother performed the songs of Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige , and her father, an experienced multi-instrumentalist, taught her the basics of playing the guitar and piano . At the age of 18, Lianne began attending Norberi-Manor High School for Girls in Croydon, where she studied art and was preparing to pass an advanced level exam, but left college, deciding to devote her career to music [7] .
Musical career
When Lianne was in sixth grade , her friend, singer and songwriter Alan Rose introduced the singer to other musicians who helped her record the first demo [7] . He introduced La Havas to the British singer Paloma Faith , with whom she toured as a backing vocalist . In 2010, the artist signed a contract with Warner Bros. Records and during the year developed writing skills before presenting their songs to the public [9] .
In October 2011, La Havas released two mini-albums : Lost & Found , the first track on which “No Room for Doubt” was recorded with American singer-songwriter Willie Mason [3] , and live From LA concert work, available for free downloads on the singer’s website. Then she first appeared on television in the program Later ... with Jools Holland on the BBC Two channel [10] . In December, she toured with the band “ Bon Iver” on his North American tour [3] . On April 30, 2012, La Havas's first official single, “Lost & Found” [11] , was released, followed by their debut studio album Is Your Love Big Enough? , released in the UK on July 9 via Warner Brothers. [9] The disc received favorable reviews from critics and debuted on the fourth line of the British chart [12] .
