Athenian Brewery SA ( Greek Αθηναϊκή Ζυθοποιία Α.Ε. , Athens Brewery ) is a Greek food industry company engaged in the production and sale of beer and mineral waters. The leader of the Greek beer market in terms of production. It belongs to one of the leaders in the global beer market - the Dutch corporation Heineken .

Products are exported to 30 countries in Europe, Africa and America. In turn, the company acts as an importer and distributor in the Greek market for beer produced by other international divisions of Heineken.

History
The company was founded in 1963 by a group of Greek entrepreneurs who, in collaboration with the Dutch beer corporation Amstel Brouwerij BV two years later, began producing beer at facilities in the industrial zone of Athens . The first beer launched by the Athenian brewery in 1965 was Amstel Lager, which from 1976 to the present day remains the most popular brand in the Greek beer market.
In 1968, Amstel Brouwerij BV teamed up with another Dutch brewery, Heineken NV, and the Athens Brewery became Heineken 's operations in Greece. In 1974, the production branch of the company was built in Thessaloniki .
Since 1993, the product range has been expanded with the start of the production of mineral water at a new production unit in the region of Lamia , located in a region rich in mineral springs.
The company launched its first beer brand in 2000 , starting the production of Alfa ( ΑΛΦΑ ) beer.
The Athens brewery is recognized as the best employer of 2011 in Greece in the category of the largest enterprises in the country (more than 250 jobs) [1] .

Athenian Brewery is the importer and distributor on the Greek market of the following beer brands produced by Heineken abroad: Amstel Bock, Amstel Light, Carib, Chimay , Desperados, Duvel, Erdinger , König Pilsener, McFarland, Murphy's Irish Stout, Murphy's Irish Red and Kirin.
