Gameplay

The basis of the gameplay was “mixing” or remixing of memory ( English memory remixing ) - an ability that allows you to change the character’s memories, thereby affecting his behavior. Mixing takes place in an abstract environment, after Nilin breaks into the brain of the target (through some kind of wireless connection). For hacking, a special hunting glove is used - a device for stealing digitized memories from the victim's electronic matrix. Getting into someone else's memory, the player sees a sequence of events in which it is allowed to change key decisions, for example, move objects. Even insignificant adjustments can change the behavior of the victim of remixing memory, its views, motives and further fate [3] . With this ability, Nilin can instantly turn the enemy into a friend and vice versa. In addition, character memory management affects the world at large.

Nilin almost all playing time moves around the map with the help of "freerun" ( parkour ). This is a quick overcoming of environmental barriers using its advantages.

Fights in the game, mostly melee. Nilin can use the knot located on the back of the neck to expand combat capabilities. In the “ligament lab” (Combo-Lab), the player has the ability to create and configure ligaments for combat. All ligaments consist of combinations of punches or kicks (respectively, in battle, the left and right mouse buttons). Impacts are divided into power (for causing damage), restorative (to accelerate the charging of special techniques), regenerative (to restore health) and ligament-punches (to enhance the previous technique in the ligament) [4] .

Fighting movements are divided into four families. Movements are called "pressen" ( English pressen ). The existing 24 pressenes can be earned for procedural mastering power. Performing quite a lot of combo ligaments, the player receives units of "focus", through which access to special movements - "s-pressenes" is opened. The latter can only be revealed at key points in history, of which there are only five. The selection of special pressen is made through "Senville" ( English senwheel ) - an interface where tricks are displayed. Interference on the screen may indicate poor health of Nilin, or an ineffective movement, from which you need to switch to another bunch. A player can create up to four active ligaments. According to Capcom, more than 50 thousand combinations are permissible in the laboratory. The effectiveness of pressen is determined by the position in the bundle: the closer to the end, the more powerful. On the Dynamic Display of the bundle in real time information on the executed combo is displayed.

Story

New Paris, 2084. Memories are no longer personal; they can be digitized, bought, or sold. Under the pressure of social networks, the rapid development of which marked the beginning of the 21st century, the concepts of “private life” and “private affair” have become a relic of a bygone era. People voluntarily sacrificed the sacred in exchange for the amenities that technology provided them. And, of course, thanks to the development of the “economy of memory" a handful of the most perspicacious and enterprising citizens received almost unlimited power over society. The main character of the Remember Me adventure action is Nilin, a former elite hunter for memories, able to invade people's thoughts, kidnap and even change them. But she is not omnipotent: the authorities arrested the girl and cleaned her memory. This is just the beginning of the story. Nilin, determined to restore her identity, escaped from prison with the help of the head of the terrorist movement of which she is a member. In search of the present herself and her past, Nilin found out that it was precisely those who created the current society, in which everyone was visible to everyone, who were hunting for her. And she is determined to restore her identity.

Gambling put the game 8.5 out of 10, noting that “ Remember Me is perhaps the most stylish fantasy in the last many years. Even Deus Ex: Human Revolution , which set a new visual fashion in the genre, will fade compared to it. Perfect forms and surrealistic images, pure colors and soft gradients, high contrast, visual metaphors, stunningly designed elements of augmented reality, the latest innovations in interior design and notes of old-fashioned style as a tribute to the past - yes, that is how the world should look in 2084 ”, noting at this drawbacks such as a meager combat system and sometimes uncomfortable camera angles [5] . According to the results of 2013, the game also received the Creative Design Award from the Igromania.ru site [14] .

Absolute Games rated the game at 60%, calling it a beautiful, elegant action movie, in which serious drama sometimes unfolds [7] .

Continuation

On March 10, 2015, Dontnod Studio announced its intention to continue the game. Dontnod creative director Jean-Maxim Maurice said the Remember Me 2 storyline is ready. He also noted that before starting the development of the sequel, Dontnod will release a new part of Life Is Strange [15] .
