He has been involved in swimming since childhood, having received many prizes, which allowed him to enter the prestigious Taichung First State High School as a teenager, but not to finish it - Ethan was expelled in behavior and graduated from secondary education only after a series of transfers between five different schools . He later worked on several temporary jobs until he got into the entertainment industry, having starred for the first time in a music video for his friend.
In 2001, Ethan began his modeling career with the Catwalk Production House agency . As a model, the young man participated in the filming of a music video of a number of popular artists, including Stephanie Sun. , A-May and the SHE group.

Later, Ethan also starred in such dramas as "Green Forest, My Home" and “Summer, oh summer” (in which Ethan was in the second leading role). However, these works did not bring noticeable success to the young actor - his annual income of that time was 200 thousand Taiwan dollars , which was barely enough for life and was periodically insufficient for timely payment of water and light.

Two years later, at the 47th Golden Horse Festival (an Oscar for Chinese-language cinema) in 2010, the actor becomes the winner in the Best Actor category for the film Monga [1] .
