Darius of Pontius - ruler of the Kingdom of Pontus in 39-37 years BC. e.
Darius was the son of the Pontic king Farnak II and the Sarmatian [1] . He had a sister Dynamia [1] and brother Arshak [2] . His grandfather was the famous Pontic king Mithridates VI Eupator .
According to Strabo [3] , Darius and Arshak participated in suppressing the rebellion of a certain Arshak, where he was besieged by the Bosporus king Polemon I and Likomed Komansky . After the capture of the fortress, the rebel was captured and executed. Darius was appointed Pontic king by the Roman triumvir Mark Anthony in 39 BC. e. His reign was short. Darius died in 37 BC. e. His brother Arshak, who became his successor, ruled until the end of the year and also died. Then Mark Anthony appointed Polemon I king of Pontus.
