Biography
The son of a teacher and director of the school, Joachim moved to West Berlin after graduation and studied at a language school, where he received a diploma in translating English and French. After leaving school, Max Reinhardt worked in several theaters. Director Alfred Weidenmann invited him to star in the 1957 film Star of Africa . At the request of film distributors, the actor changed his name to "Hansen." The film was a turning point not only for Hansen, but also for other actors involved in it - Hansjörg Felmi , Horst Frank and Pir Schmidt .
This successful role was followed by roles in the films “ Dogs, do you want to live forever? "(1958), " And the forests always sing " (1959), its continuation " The Björndal Legacy " and " Via Mala " . Having played the main male roles in 19 films in 1957-1962, Hansen became one of the most popular film actors in Germany. He starred with Hildegard Knef in the adventure film Madeleine and the Legionnaire , with Senta Berger in the film adaptation of Brian Edgar Wallace 's The Secret of the Black Suitcase, and with Christina Kaufman , Christian Wolf and Herth Fröbe in Via Mala .
Since the mid-1960s, Joachim Hanzen began acting in films of foreign production, where he often got secondary roles of German officers, for example, in Remagen Bridge (1968) with the participation of Robert Vaughn and George Segal , in the film Eagle Landing (1976 ) as an SS officer with Robert Duvall , Donald Sutherland and Larry Hagman , as well as in The Old Gun (1975), along with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noire .
In 1986, Hansen with his wife, restaurateur Marion Wolf and son moved to live in Canada, on the island of Vancouver , but often visited Germany to participate in theatrical productions. In early August 2007, Hansen was on a theater tour in Berlin and from there wrote the last letter to his long-term seriously ill friend Hansjörg Felmi , who died a few days later. Hansen suffered a stroke after writing this letter and died after five weeks in a coma . Buried in Canada.
