General Information
The Primorsky District is the historical center of the city with a wide, versatile and unique spectrum of economic functions:
- Large-scale residential area with multi-storey buildings and colorful architecture of "Old Odessa";
- Cultural, public and administrative centers and objects with numerous architectural monuments, museums, theaters;
- Green park areas with beautiful beaches;
- Port-industrial complex;
- Scientific and educational sphere.
A real gem of Primorsky District is Primorsky Boulevard, the most beautiful in the city, where the panorama of the port is clearly visible. Along the entire boulevard there are beautiful architectural ensanblis, a monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin stands right there.
No less interesting is the main street of Odessa - Deribasovskaya , named after Joseph de Ribas, and the adjoining Greek Square. Currently, most of the streets and the square are pedestrian zones, together with the City Garden they are one of the favorite places for recreation and walking of residents and guests of the city.
Another favorite resting place of Odessa citizens and guests of the city is the famous Potemkin Stairs, which connects the port and Primorsky Boulevard. The construction of this giant staircase of 192 steps was begun in 1837 and completed in 1841. The author is architect F. Boffo, who carefully designed the proportions of the structure. After the screening of the movie " Battleship Potemkin" , this ladder was called Potemkin.
In total, there are 50 monuments of monumental art and 669 residential buildings, which are architectural monuments, in the district.
By the decision of the Odessa City Council No. 960-XXI of January 20, 2003 “On Amendments to the Decision of the Odessa City Council No. 197-XXIV of July 26, 2002“ On the Administrative-Territorial Division of the City of Odessa ”, the boundaries the newly created Primorsky District.
The population of the district is 259 thousand people. The area of the district is 24.2 km². The number of enterprises, organizations, individuals is 35 thousand with a total of 194,412 people employed.
In the area of:
- 124 streets (among them Deribasovskaya , Kanatnaya and Chernyakhovsky );
- 85 lanes;
- 13 squares: Grecheskaya, April 10 , Dumskaya , Ekaterininskaya , Kulikovo Pole , Leo Tolstoy, Staroshennaya , Teatralnaya , Tiraspolskaya , Vera Kholodnoy , Privokzalnaya, Customs , Sobornaya ;
- 11 descents: Military , Devolanovsky , Quarantine , Lanzheronovsky , Marinesko , Matrossky, Olgievsky, Polsky , Skidanivsky, Stepan Oleynik, Kovalevsky;
- five boulevards: Italian , Lidersovsky , Primorsky , French , Mikhail Zhvanetsky ;
- three avenues: Gagarin, Aleksandrovsky, Shevchenko ;
- five beaches: " Langeron ", " Joy ", "Dolphin", " Arcadia ", "Seagull".

Industry
The Primorsky District is a highly developed industrial region, whose industry occupies a significant part in the structure of the national economic complex of the city of Odessa and the Odessa region.

Education
On the territory of the district there are 16 largest universities of the city that train high-quality specialists of various profiles. 19 educational institutions of I — II accreditation level.
Culture
On the territory of the district there are nine theaters of the city. The oldest film studio in Ukraine is located in the district. In the area there are 21 museums.
