By 2008, Ascaron Entertainment had a lot of debts, the release of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel did not help the company pay its debts, in 2009 the company declared itself bankrupt [1] , but still released Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on the PlayStation 3 console , Xbox 360 . [2]
The company’s employees were fired, the company’s property was sold out, and the German publisher Kalypso Media acquired most of the intellectual property and assets of the company. Former owners of the company created a new studio, Gaming Minds , which included 15 former Ascaron employees. [3] This company owns trademarks: Darkstar One , The Patrician, Port Royale and On the Ball.
The rights to the Sacred brand were bought by the German company Deep Silver .
