The city was built around the Spanish-founded mission of St. John Kapistrano ( Spanish: Juan Capistrano ), and many buildings in the city center (the oldest date from the XVIII century) were built in the same style - adobe walls and tiled roofs. In the guarded neighborhoods on the hills there are several mansions worth $ 10 million or more.
