Biography

Angel Cheme was born in Esmeraldas province in 1981. He started playing football quite late and only at the age of 19 he managed to get into the team of the lower divisions of the Ecuador championship “Deportivo Amistad”. In the next two years, he also played for the lower division teams. At that time, he played under his own surname. In 2003, Angel Cheme appropriated the identity card of a certain Gonzalo Javier Chila Palma ( Spanish: Gonzalo Javier Chila Palma ) - in an unspecified way (according to journalists, Chila, who failed to make a football career, himself transferred his identity to Cheme for a percentage of his future professional contracts), born December 9, 1984. Under this name, he successfully joined the Aucas team, which then performed in Series A of Ecuador [1] .

In 2007-2008, the so-called Gonzalo Chila played very successfully for Olmedo, which attracted the attention of one of the strongest clubs in the world, the winner of the 2008 Libertadores Cup , the finalist of the club world championship of LDU Quito. Chila spent only eight matches in the championship of Ecuador and one match in the draw of the South American Cup, which ended in victory for the Ecuadorian team.

The following year, Gonzalo Chila began to appear more often at the core of LDU, becoming a solid player in the foundation. In December, the public became aware that the real Gonzalo Javier Chila Palma filed a complaint with law enforcement in Ecuador, claiming that Angel Cheme stole "his identity." The investigation has been going on since January 2009, and only after almost 2 years the data was transferred to the press. The real Gonzalo Chila claimed that it was difficult for him to find a job, given that his new documents copied the data of a football player already known in Ecuador (that is, Angel Cheme hiding under them), which aroused suspicion [1] .

The Football Federation of Ecuador decided to disqualify Angel Cheme for two years, and he completely missed 2011. In January 2012, at the request of LDO Quito, the disqualification was withdrawn and Cheme, already under his real name and with real passport details, joined the club [2] .

In 2013, he played for Deportivo Quito.
