Michnya II Turk (Tarkitul)

Michnya II Turk (Tarkitul) ( rum. Mihnea II Turcitul ; 1564-1601) is the ruler of Wallachia from the Basarab-Dracululesti dynasty (1577-1583, 1585-1591). The only son of the Wallachian ruler Alexander II Mircea (1568-1574, 1574-1577) and Catherine Salvaresso (d. 1590).

Biography

Mikhnia was brought up in Istanbul , where he converted to Islam and received the name Mehmed Bey. In September 1577, after the death of his father, Wallachian ruler Alexander Mircea, Michn Turok was proclaimed Porta the new ruler of Wallachia. He was in power for the first time for six years. He fought against the boyar opposition and tried to establish contacts with the Orthodox clergy. In July 1583, the Wallachian ruler Michnya Turok was removed from the throne, which, with the support of the Turks, took Peter III Earring , the son of Petrashka I the Good. In 1583-1585, Mikhnia Tarkitul lived in Turkish possessions in North Africa.

In April 1585, Michnya Tarkitul was reappointed by the Port as Lord of Wallachia . The second time he held the throne for six years. In May 1591, Mikhnia Tarkitul was removed from power and left for Turkey, where he was appointed Sanjak Bay of Nikopol.

His only son Radu Michni (1586-1626) was the ruler of Wallachia (1601-1602, 1611, 1611-1616, 1620-1623) and Moldova (1616-1619, 1623-1626).
