Life and career
Debra Mooney was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota [1] . After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she began performing on the theater stage, and in 1979 made her Broadway debut in the play “Chapter Two,” and then starred in the adaptation movie of the same name with Marsha Mason and Valerie Harper .
Mooney has appeared in over eighty television shows and films throughout her career. She is primarily known for her role as Edna Harper, the mother of the protagonist, in the television series Love the Widower , where she starred from 2002 to 2006, throughout the broadcast period. She also starred in several short-lived sitcoms and was noticeable in what series like " Rosanna ", " Ambulance " and " Practice ". On the big screen, she appeared in films such as Tootsie , The Society of Dead Poets and The Phantom Menace . In 2012, Shonda Rimes invited Mooney in the second season of her series “ Scandal ” [2] .
