On April 28, 2012, Nyusha gave her first big recital in the Crocus City Hall in Moscow. During the show, three new songs by the performer were presented, including “Recollection”. They wrote on the site “Music Cards” that the song will become her new summer single and a video will be shot on it. Nyusha performed “Recollection” with the fifth number at the concert and the publication positively described the performance: “during which a chair with diamonds was brought onto the stage, strongly reminiscent of the throne of pop princess Britney Spears . How much this coincidence can only be guessed. Nyusha once again surprised, because it is difficult to issue so much energy in one issue. And it was even more surprising that the public perceived the new song well, although usually new tracks at concerts are perceived very sluggishly and with obvious indifference ” ^[7] .

“Recollection” entered the circulation on June 5, 2012 through the Tophit portal system ^[2] . On the day of the release, a press release was released in which the performer spoke about the new single: “Despite the fact that this song was originally dedicated to a specific person, I am convinced that every person who appears in our life is not random, everyone is sent to us with which for the purpose. And even leaving people in the past, try to keep only the fondest memories of them, because everything was not just like that ” ^[8] .

“Recollection” is a dynamic, dance composition recorded in the synthopop genre ^{[1] [7]} . According to sheet music published on Melodyforever.ru, a song is recorded at an average tempo of 100 beats per minute, at a rate of 4/4 beat . The main harmonic sequence of the composition, recorded in the A minor key , consists of chords: Am - G - Em - F ^[9] . Synthetic electronic drums are recorded in the song and elements of europop , syntypop and dance music are borrowed. It was noted that the arrangements were created similar to those that were present on the singer’s debut album ^[10] .

In general, the song received a positive rating from music journalists, critics and program directors of radio stations, reaching second place on the Expert Chart of the Red Star portal ^[1] . Bulat Latypov from " Poster " gave the song a positive rating. He wrote that “with all the desire he couldn’t get past - over the past two years, the artist has earned herself a vote of confidence. Its strings are instantly remelted into bullets, smashing into the target without a miss and with monstrous force ” ^[11] . Pavel Pshenov from MuseCube.org also gave a positive assessment to the composition and described “Recollection” as “a very good song with a good refrain, catchy hooks and an interesting idea about the“ twists ”of human memory.” However, the author noted that the song does not add interest to the singer’s new album, as it was recorded in the spirit of the artist’s debut disc ^[10] .

Summing up the results of the year in Russian pop music for the Afisha magazine, Bulat Latypov wrote that after the release of the very successful singles “ Painfully ” and “ Higher ” in 2011, the singer did not rest on her laurels and “settled on the release of the single“ Remembrance ” unattainable altitude of various radio charts. It was “Recollection” that became the most popular Russian-language song of the year, with which only “Love” Dana Balana could argue with ^[12] . According to the Russian division of the search engine Google , “Recollection” was included in the top three most popular songs on demand from Russian users in 2012 ^[13] . According to the Russian branch of the social network Facebook , the composition took the sixth place in the ranking of the most listened songs among Russian users for 2012 ^[14] . “Recollection” also received the Golden Gramophone award ^[4] . At the Muz-TV 2013 award and RU.TV 2013 award, the composition was nominated in the category "Best Song" ^{[5] [6]} .

“Recollection” debuted in the top hundred singles of the Tophit general radio chart at 88th position on June 10, 2012. Four weeks later, the song entered the Top 10 charts ^[15] . In July, the composition reached second place, losing the lead to the single "Frieds" of Danish singer Aura Dion ^[16] . In mid-August, “Remembrance” topped the ranking of the most rotated singles of the CIS and Russia. Apelzin.ru wrote that “Nyusha has been holding the lead in the ranking of the most played songs on Russian radio stations for the second week in a row. The track “Recollection” topped the ranking last week, but even after seven days did not give up its position to competitors ” ^[17] . In total, “Remembrance” led the general radio chart for 11 consecutive weeks. On the chart, upon requests from radio listeners, the composition held first place for 19 consecutive weeks ^[15] . In the final annual CIS radio chart, the song took 3rd place ^[18] .

The single also led the "Russian Top 100" ^[19] . In the Russian chart of purchases and streaming of digital tracks, according to the company 2M and Lenta.ru, “Remembrance” rose to first place on August 31, 2012 ^[20] . In the chart of September 14, the composition dropped one line, taking second place ^[21] . In the following month, the song again topped the 2M charts and, as a result, stayed in the first place for 6 weeks ^{[22] [23]} . After the opening of the Russian branch of the iTunes online store, the song fell into its rating of sales of digital tracks for the first week of work, taking fifth place ^[24] . In the final annual report of the company 2M and Lenta.ru, “Remembrance” took the third line in the chart “Digital tracks. The song also achieved success in Ukraine, taking first place in the radio charts "Ukrainian Top-100" and "Kiev Top-100" according to Tophit ^[26] . In the annual Ukrainian radio chart “Remembrance” took the 9th position ^[27] . According to the information of one of the largest Ukrainian mobile operators and the Kyivstar online store, the composition “Recollection” became the second most downloaded in the company's catalog for 2012 ^[28] .

Filming

On June 23, 2012, there were reports that a video clip had been shot for the song, directed by Alexey Golubev . Nyusha said that the video itself does not have a plot, since the song itself is quite informative, and the director did not want to distract attention from the text ^[30] . “Therefore, it was decided to create a beautiful, vibrant and dynamic picture, where I will appear in very unexpected not only for my fans, but also for myself images,” the performer explained ^[30] . Alexey Golubev said that the video was made in the style of video works by such performers as Beyonce and Britney Spears, with whom Nyusha is often compared. There was also information that an English version of the song and the video for it, called “Don't Make a Change,” is being prepared for release. “We are currently recording a lot of English-language material, because already this fall or at the beginning of 2013 we plan to bet on Europe,” said the performer ^[31] .

Release and Reviews

In early September, the video was presented on the Internet channel Ello ( YouTube ). Apelzin.ru noted that in the video, Nyusha decided to change the dark color of her hair to light, and the public’s reaction was ambiguous, as many felt that the clip was boring and could not be compared with the singer’s previous works, which were more dynamic ^[32] . The MIA “Music” also noted the ambiguous assessment given by the video public (“the video received dozens of conflicting opinions in just a few hours, from“ awful and boring ”to“ super and wow ”), but considered that“ it’s new the video really looks quite simple, but in this case it can be said that it’s very beautiful and easy to make ” ^[33] .

According to the Russian edition of Billboard, video led the video rotation chart on Russian music channels ^[36] .
