History
St. Petersburg Avenue was called Red Avenue , St. Petersburg Street .
St. Petersburg Street after the intersection with Razvodnaya Street was called Kadetskaya.
Victory Square was formerly called Theater Square, since it housed the building of the Imperial Theater, built during the reign of Nicholas I , when the regiment’s arena located on the square was converted into a theater. Under Alexander III, the theater building was expanded for a grand performance on the wedding day of Grand Duchess Ksenia Alexandrovna . After the revolution, the square received the name of Spartak .
The trading square (Sennaya Square) was located in the city center and was very busy. It was a brisk trade with carts of fish, hemp, firewood, hay. In Gostiny Dvor, moved here in 1839 from the territory of the current 415 school, manufactory, leather, and pottery shops were located. In the center of the square in 1841 there was a pool with a fountain for drinking.
Before the October Revolution, the first Peterhof cinema stood on the corner of Kadetskaya and Razvodnaya Streets.
There was a Catholic church near the English Pond.
Kadetskaya Street overlooked a small area. On the north side of the square, at the Factory Groove, at the site of the current bus stop, there was a small stone Lutheran church, built by architect E. L. Gan according to the project of A. I. Shtakenschneider .
Further, behind the bridge over the channel of the English Pond, Old Peterhof began [3] .
