Biography
Before World War I was enrolled in the fleet. He began his naval career as an ordinary soldier.
In 1923, as a lieutenant, he became a pilot of a squadron. He was one of the first US naval aviators. In 1940 he was appointed air officer on board the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5) .
In 1945, while in the USSR as a deputy American attache, Tate met Russian actress Zoya Fedorova . In January 1946, Fedorova gave birth to a daughter, Victoria . Tate had already left the USSR by that time, being declared persona non grata . In 1975, Victoria, who emigrated to the United States, first met her own father.
The last time Jackson Tate and Zoya Fedorova met on April 27, 1976, when Zoya came to him in America for a few days.
At the end of his life, Tate suffered a heart disease.
Memory
A year after Tate’s death, Victoria Fedorova published an autobiographical book, Admiral’s Daughter ( Eng. The Admiral's Daughter , 1979), written in collaboration with Haskel Frankel .
