The black-headed python [1] ( lat. Aspidites melanocephalus ) is a snake from the genus of black-headed pythons.

Description
Appearance
Body length 1.5, maximum 2.5 m. Color dark brown. On the back are black transverse stripes, and on the sides are yellow. The head is black and shiny.
Distribution and habitat
Inhabits northern Australia from Queensland in the east to Cape Leveque in the west.
Lives in coastal forests and arid shrub thickets. Active at night and at dusk.
Power
It feeds on small mammals, birds and reptiles. Hunt for large venomous aspidovyh snakes , to the bites of which are few susceptible
Reproduction
In July — August, females of the black-headed python lay 7–9 eggs each.

Rare view. Breed in the zoo Tarongo .
