Statute
According to information from open sources, the order is awarded by the President of South Ossetia for displaying heroism and achievement in the course of hostilities, as well as for a significant contribution to eliminating the consequences of such [3] . In May 2012, a meeting of the order's gentlemen discussed a draft law on the status of the award, which was planned to be submitted to the government on June 10 of that year [4] . In particular, it was assumed that persons awarded this order would be able to count on free medical care, education, travel in public transport and the receipt or construction of real estate. Also, the order is awarded to cities upon conferring the title of "Hero City" [5] .
Short Description
The ribbon of the order consists of three equally wide alternating stripes, two red and one white, with yellow bordering on the sides. The badge of the order looks like an eight-pointed silver star, partially covered with ruby enamel, with two golden crossed swords. On the central medallion, in a circle on white enamel - the motto of the order and the image of the laurel branch. In the center of the medallion is a golden relief image of the bowl.
Title
The order is named after the mythological artifact of Uatsamong , mentioned in the Ossetian Nart epic. According to sources, the artifact had the appearance of a quadrangular feast bowl, endowed with a number of magical properties. In particular, the drinks inside the bowl were inexhaustible; in addition, “if one of the feasting men spoke the truth about his feats of arms, Uatsamonga rose to his lips herself, but if she boasted in vain - Uatsamonga did not budge” [6] .
