Svalyavsky district ( Ukrainian Svalyavsky district ) is an administrative unit in the center of Transcarpathian region of Ukraine . The administrative center is the city of Svalyava .

Geography
Area 673 km².
The main rivers are Latoritsa , Vicha , Svalyavka , Pynya, Borzhava.
The district borders on the north with Volovetsky , in the south with Irshavsky , in the west with Perechinsky and Mukachevsky , in the east with Mezhgorsky districts of Transcarpathian region .
History
The area was formed on November 9, 1953.
Demographics
The population of the district is 54 869 people ( 2006 data), including about 16 983 people living in urban conditions. In total there are 29 settlements.
According to the 2001 All-Ukrainian Population Census, 54.9 thousand people lived in the district (98.9% compared to the 1989 census ), of which Russians - 0.9 thousand people (1.5% of the total population), Hungarians - 0 , 4 thousand people (0.7%), Slovaks - 0.4 thousand people (0.6%) [2] .
