History
The site on the corner of Malaya Sadovaya (house 1) and Italian (house 25) streets belonged to I. I. Shuvalov (1727-1797) in the middle of the 18th century . This determined the first name of Malaya Sadovaya - Shuvalov Lane (1781-1798).
The mansion was built in 1753 - 1755 by the architect S. I. Chevakinsky . The premises of this house housed a gallery of paintings collected by Ivan Ivanovich. In the mid-1770s, interiors were redone for the new owner, Prince A. A. Vyazemsky .
At the end of the XVIII century, the building came under the jurisdiction of the state and until 1917 the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Empire and then the Provisional Government were in it.
Since 1918, the Hygiene Museum of the Center for Medical Prevention has been located here. The museum exposition tells about the anatomy and physiology of man , the fight against bad habits , sex education , AIDS prevention , radiation hygiene .
