Bruno Martins Indi ( Dutch: Bruno Martins Indi ; born February 8, 1992 , Barreiro , Portugal ) is a Dutch footballer of Guinean descent, defender of the English club Stoke City and the Netherlands national team .

Early years

Born in a family of immigrants from Guinea-Bissau. When Bruno was three months old, his parents moved to Rotterdam [2] .

Club career

Feyenoord

Pupil of the Feyenoord club. He made his debut in the team on August 19, 2010 in the match of the fourth qualifying round of the Europa League against Ghent [3] . Three days later, the defender played his first match in the Dutch championship (in the 3rd round against Heracles [4] ). On April 17, 2011, Martins Indy scored the first goal in his professional career, striking with his head a strike at the Willem II club [5] . According to the results of the 2011/12 season, the defender of the Feyenoord became the vice-champion of the country.

In July 2014 he moved to Porto [6] .

Porto

After the successful 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where he became the bronze medalist of the tournament, it was reported that Feyenoord would leave Bruno in the current transfer window. On July 15, 2014, Porto announced on its official website that Martins Indy had signed a four-year contract with Porto, the terms of which were not disclosed, according to some reports, the transfer amount was 7 million euros. The first goal for Porto was scored on October 5, 2014 in the match against Braga .

Stoke City

In the summer of 2016, the player was rented by the English club Stoke City . In August 2017, the club bought the rights to Martins Indi, paying 7.7 million euros for it and concluding a five-year contract with him [7] [8] .

Team Career

Bruno Martins Indy played for the Netherlands youth teams of various ages. As part of the junior team under 17 years old, the defender participated in the 2009 World Cup (1 match), and with the national team under 19 years old, he participated in the 2010 European Championship (3 matches).

Martins Indy first played for the youth team on February 29, 2012 in the qualifying match for the European Championship against the Scottish team [9] .

On August 16, 2012, in a friendly match with the Belgians, Bruno Martins Indy made his debut in the national team [10] . In the qualifying match of the 2014 World Cup against Hungary , held in Budapest on September 11, 2012, the defender scored the first goal in his career for the Netherlands [11] .

At the 2014 World Cup he won bronze medals.
