The club was founded in 2007 in the city of Craiova , through the merger of the clubs "Gas Methane Podari" and "CFR Craiova" and was named "Gas Methane Craiova" . In 2011, the club moved to Drobeta-Turnu Severin and became known as the “Methane Gas Drobeta-Turnu Severin” . In June 2012, the club changed its name to “Turnu Severin”.
