In The Death of Superman, Superman engages in battle with the super-villain Dumsday [2] . In the Superman release (vol. 2) # 75 (1992), after a long battle, both opponents die from multiple injuries [2] . Society’s response to Superman’s death was featured in the second arch of Funeral for a Friend ( Rus. Funeral for a friend ). The emergence of four "new" Supermen and the return of the present Superman happened in the third arch of Reign of the Supermen! ( Russian. Superman Board! ).
Editor-in-chief Mark Carlin and a team of screenwriters: Dan Yurgens , Roger Stern , Louise Simonson , Jerry Ordway , and Karl Kesela expected great success. The circulation of the comic book about Superman went international, interrupting the planned sales schedule, and was completely sold overnight.
In 2007, based on the main storyline, the animated film Superman: Judgment Day was created [3] .

Story
Doomsday!
The International Justice League ( Guy Gardner , Blue Beetle , Booster Gold , Maxima , Fire , Ice and Bloodwind ) are taking a call to destroy a drilling rig in Busayrus County, Ohio . Following the path of massive destruction, the team is forced to engage in battle with an unknown creature [2] . The creature easily overcomes the Justice League and finishes the battle, throwing Booster Gold into the stratosphere. Superman rescues Booster by intercepting him in the air. He says to Superman: “It's like the appearance of“ The Last Judgment ( Doomsday ), ”so the creature got its name.
A man of steel arrives on the scene, interrupting a television interview with Kat Grant in the release of Justice League America # 69. He and the battle-worthy members of the Justice League fight the Destroyer. By attacking Dumsday, superheroes use all their strength, but the only thing they can do is tear or burn his costume. Dumsday again defeats the League and jumps away. Superman follows the Destroyer and drowns him at the bottom of the lake. But Doomsday escapes from the lake and engages in battle with Superman on the streets. Maxim again engages in battle; Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen go to the center of events to shoot TV material; Lex Luthor (at that time impersonating his non-existent son, Lex Luthor II), discourages Supergirl (Matrix) from joining Superman. The fight goes to the gas station, where Maxima produces a big bang and Dumsday escapes. The keeper finds Superman and Maxim and offers his help.
Superman again pursues Doomsday on the trail of destruction, waiting for a convenient opportunity to attack. Lex Jr. convinces Supergirl that her help is needed in Metropolis when Superman is in a completely different place. Having broken into the home appliance store, Dumsday sees on TV a wrestling show, which takes place in Metropolis, and, having seen the road sign pointing to his side, he goes there. Superman attacks and discards the Destroyer in the opposite direction, where he lands on the mountain in which the Cadmus Project base is located. In the fray, they destroy most of the living forest. When the Keeper comes to the rescue, Dumsday knocks him down and jumps toward Metropolis.
Dumsday moves under the ground, where he breaks the pipes of gas and electronic networks, and arrives in Newtown - a large section of Metropolis. Supergirl comes to the aid of Superman, but with a single blow of the Being - falls unconscious to the ground. Professor Emil Hamilton and Bibbo Bibbowski shoot Dumsday with a laser gun, but it has no effect on him. Local police open fire on the Destroyer, but again he was not injured. Superman returns to battle.
Superman and Dumsday fight each other using everything they can. Shock waves of such force are created from their blows that windows are broken in the area. At one moment in front of the Daily Planet building, each of them strikes an opponent with maximum force. The fall of two titans, a moment later - Superman, in the arms of Lois Lane dies from numerous wounds. [2] Jimmy, Ice and Bloodwind are also present at the end.
Events take place in Superman (vol. 2) # 75. The publication contains 22 pages, where each page is a single frame, which was the basis in previous editions - Adventures of Superman # 497 was made entirely from four panel pages, Action Comics # 684 of three, and Superman: The Man of Steel # 19 total of two. The whole story was immediately collected in a soft cover called The Death of Superman (from English. - "Death of Superman").
