Chess career in Latvia
He began to play chess at the age of 12. In 1928 he won the championship of the Riga Chess Club, and in 1930 participated in the final of the Latvian Championship. Later he studied at the University of Latvia at the Faculty of Chemistry, where he graduated as a chemical engineer. In 1938, after an excellent performance at the Latvian championship, Dreiberg was among the participants of the 2nd international tournament in Kemeri, where he took 9th place [1] . In 1940, he shared 5-6th place in a big tournament in Riga [2] , and in the 1st championship of the Latvian SSR he took 5th place [3] .
US Chess Career
During World War II, Dreyberg emigrated first to Germany , where he participated in a large tournament in Augsburg [4] , and then to the United States , where he continued to work as a chemical engineer and participated in chess tournaments. Dreyberg twice in a row (1954, 1955) won the Michigan State Championship. He also played a lot and successfully by correspondence. In 1961, Dreyberg shared the 1st place in the championship of the American Chess League by correspondence game [5] .
