The 2012 Czech Senate elections were held on October 12 and 13 (1st round) and October 19 and 20 (2nd round). During the elections by the majoritarian electoral system , 27 senators out of 81 were re-elected in two rounds. The first round of the Senate elections was held simultaneously with the elections of the regional self-government.
The 2012 election campaign was described by some media as boring and expressionless compared to the 2008 Senate elections. Slogans have disappeared from the election posters calling not to vote for competitors. Compared to 2008, anti-campaigns have significantly decreased. [one]
