Rebecca de Guarna (XIV century) is an Italian therapist, surgeon and writer, one of the few female doctors of the Middle Ages known to us.
Rebecca de Guarna belonged to the same Salerno family as Romuald , a well-known priest, doctor and historian. She was a student at the University of Salerno , in which women students in those years were a minority. He is the author of works on fever ( De febrius ), urine ( De Urinis , in which he examines a diagnostic method using a sample of urine [1] ) and embryos ( De embrione ).
Together with Abella , Mercury and Francesca de Romana, it is considered one of the "Ladies from Salerno" who from the very beginning attended a medical school in Salerno and contributed to the "medical revival" in Europe [2] .
