Biography
Born into a noble family. He was brought up in the Naval Cadet Corps . Gardemarin - June 7, 1812 , midshipman - July 27 (or 21), 1815 , lieutenant - February 27, 1820 . Designed for the Guards crew on November 20, 1819 . From 1812 he sailed the Baltic Sea , in 1823 he sailed on the frigate "Agile" in Iceland and in England , in 1824 on the sloop " Mirny " - in Rostock .
One of the founders of the secret Society of the Guards crew ( 1824 ), the author of its charters. The goal of society is freedom and equality. The charters provided for the death penalty for those who, upon entering the society, change him. In 1825, D. Zavalishin was accepted into the Order of Restoration, a member of the Northern Society (December 1825). Participant of the meetings of Ryleev and Obolensky .
Active participant in the uprising on Senate Square . In the last days before the uprising, Arbuzov tried to inform the sailors of his company about the plan and purpose of the uprising. Apart from him, not one of the members of the Northern Society decided on this. Adherent of the republican form of government. He refused to swear allegiance to Nicholas I. Arbuzov, along with Nikolai Bestuzhev, led the Guards crew to Senate Square, where he prompted the sailors to continue the riot. Arrested on the night of December 14-15, 1825 and imprisoned in the Alekseevsky ravelin of the Peter and Paul Fortress .
Convicted of I category, by confirmation on July 10, 1826, sentenced to hard labor for life, the term was reduced to 20 years - August 22, 1826 . Sent to Rochensalm , and from there to Siberia . Served punishment in the Chita prison and Petrovsky plant . After the period of hard labor was transferred to the settlement in the village. Nazarovsky Achinsk district of the Yenisei province (now Nazarovo of the Krasnoyarsk Territory ), where he died. In Nazarovo, Arbuzov lived hard, reached such poverty that in recent times he ate only fish that he himself caught. His grave has not been preserved. In honor of Arbuzov named one of the main streets in Nazarovo.
