History
Archaeological excavations indicate that the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic era. A small settlement stood on the site of Ninove, which began to expand with the advent of the Franks in the 5th century . Until the 12th century , a fortress wall was built and trade with neighbors established, and later its own abbey appeared. This allowed Ninova to acquire the status of a city. In the XV-XVII century, decline occurs, ending in the XVIII century. In the second half of the XIX century, own production began to be mastered here. During World War I , a whole match industry existed in Ninovo.
