Arthur "Atze" Brauner ( German: Artur 'Atze' Brauner ; August 1, 1918 , Lodz - July 7, 2019 , Berlin ) is a German businessman and film producer of Jewish origin.

Biography
Arthur Browner was born into a Jewish family of a wood merchant. Arthur's father was from Katowice , his mother was from Odessa . After graduating from school in Lodz , in 1936, together with a group of young Zionists, he left for the Middle East , where he participated in the filming of two documentaries . Before the start of World War II, he studied at the Polytechnic School in Lodz. Together with his family, he fled from Poland to the Soviet Union . Brauner's parents subsequently emigrated to Israel , and he himself moved to West Germany and began producing films, setting up the Central Cinema Compagnie film company in Berlin .
The theme of the persecution of Jews in the Third Reich became central to the films produced by Browner. Browner's first film was entitled Tell the Truth . Despite the support of the Soviet military authorities, Browner ’s second film , Morituri, was unsuccessful, since no one was interested in the fate of the Jews persecuted by the Nazis in Germany at that time. This prompted Browner in the following years to engage in entertaining content that responded to the tastes of the public, competing with his former subordinate Horst Wendlandt . Wendlandt stole from Brauner the rights to the adaptation of Westerns based on the works of Karl May and the books of Edgar Wallace . Browner was forced to be content with scripts based on the works of Edgar Wallace ’s son Brian Edgar and Karl May’s oriental novels.
With the advent of the New German cinema in the 1970s, Browner was not experiencing the best of times. He focused on the production of films exploring the theme of National Socialism . The main characters of his films were Jews persecuted by the Nazis (Charlotte, Love in Germany , Europe, Europe ). Browner produced about five hundred films, including television, and twice won the Golden Globe Award . He was also awarded the Academy Award as co-producer.
In 1999, Brauner opened the luxury hotel Hollywood Media Hotel Berlin at the Kurfürstendamm .
