Biography
Born in Ufa. Since 1960 he moved to Omsk.
In 1961 he became the champion of the USSR among students.
In 1963 - winner of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the RSFSR.
In 1971 he became the winner of the cycling race of the world (Warsaw - Berlin - Prague).
In 1980, he coached a team of cyclists for the Olympics in Moscow.

For many years V. M. Sokolov worked as the head of the department of cycling and speed skating at the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports . In 1998, he was awarded the academic title of professor .
