Biography
Born in 1898 in Nikolaev, Russian Empire.
Received home education.
In 1918 he joined the infantry regiment of the UNR army. After the concussion he finished military service.
In 1919 he emigrated to Turkey, a year later - to Czechoslovakia (Rzhevnitsa), where he lived for almost 30 years.
He studied in Prague, mastered the ancient Greek and modern Greek languages, deeply studied ancient literature and history.
In search of work, he moved to France ( 1949 ), then to the USA ( 1958 ).
In 1963 he retired and returned to creative work.
He died in 1980 in New York (according to other sources - in 1983).
Proceedings
Arkas poetry collections from 1928-1932 have been preserved.
He carried out the first complete translation of the Iliad in the newest Ukrainian literature. Translated "The Word of Igor's Campaign", published posthumously under the name of Ukrainian. “From the homeland chronicle. Trains. The Duma about the death of the Polovtsy Novgorod-Siversky Prince Igor Svyatoslavovich at 1185 p. " (Nikolaev, 1993 ).
Created a Ukrainian-Czech dictionary.
In 1963, published a biography of his family in English.
