Tungsten isotopes are varieties of the chemical element of tungsten having a different number of neutrons in the nucleus . Tungsten isotopes are known with mass numbers from 158 to 192 (the number of protons 74, neutrons from 84 to 118), and more than 10 nuclear isomers .
Natural tungsten consists of a mixture of five isotopes . Four of them are stable:
- 182 W ( isotopic prevalence of 26.50%)
- 183 W (isotopic prevalence of 14.31%)
- 184 W (isotopic prevalence of 30.64%)
- 186 W (isotopic prevalence of 28.43%)
Another isotope has a huge half-life , much more than the age of the universe :
- 180 W (isotopic abundance 0.12%)
According to the calculations, stable isotopes can also be unstable, but their decay was not observed experimentally.
