History
On December 22, 2001, Pope John Paul II issued the bull Ad aptius consulendum , which he established the diocese of Tanjungselor, isolating it from the diocese of Samarind. On the same day, the Diocese of Palangkarai entered the Pontianak Metropolitanate .
On January 14, 2003, the diocese of Tanjungselor entered the Metropolitanate of Samarind.
