Fort Bragg [1] ( eng. Fort Bragg ) is a city located on the Pacific Ocean in Mendocino County in California . It was founded as a military fort on June 11, 1857, shortly before the Civil War in the United States . Horatio Gibson, founder of the fort, named it after his former commander, Braxton Bragg .

Subsequently, the city became a popular tourist resort on the coast. Near the city is located McKerrich National Park, one of the attractions of which is a glass beach [2] . According to the 2000 census, the population of the city was 7026 people.
