Bartalla [1] ( Arabic: برلة , sire. ܒܪܛܠܐ ) is a city in northern Iraq , located in the province of Ninawa . It is part of the district of Al Hamdania .

Geographical position
The city is located in the northeastern part of the governorate, in the foothills of the Jebel Ain Es Safra mountain range, at an altitude of 282 meters above sea level [2] .
Bartalla is located approximately 13 kilometers east of Mosul , the provincial capital, and 340 kilometers north-north-west (NNW) from Baghdad , the country's capital.
Population
In 2012, the population of the city was 12,593 people [3] [4] . Assyrians predominate in the national composition, Christians in the confessional one.
History
Presumably, the population of the city was converted to Christianity before the VI century [5] . Barthalla, like other Assyrian settlements around the world, was attacked by Muslim neighbors ( Kurds and Persians ) throughout its history and destroyed several times.
