Carmelites - Teresian missionaries ( Spanish Hermanas Carmelitas Misioneras Teresianas ), or Congregation of Carmelites sisters - Teresian missionaries ( Latin Congregatio Sororum Carmelitarum Missionariarum Teresianarum ) - a women's institute dedicated to life in the Roman Catholic Church in 18 , in Spain, by Francis Palau-i-Quer (monastic Francis Jesus-Mary-Joseph) and approved on February 17, 1902 by the Holy See . The Institute is a branch of the regular tertiary of the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites and is abbreviated CMT [1]

History
The congregation was founded in 1860 in Ciutadella de Menorca , in Spain, by the priest Francis Jesus-Mary-Joseph (in the world Francis Palau-i-Quer) from the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites. [2]
After the death of the founder in 1872, the leadership of the institute passed to Juan Noches. In disagreement with the actions of the new leadership, Juan Gratias-Fabre, who was next to Francis Jesus-Mary-Joseph since the foundation of the congregation, along with several nuns, left the institute in 1873 and founded the new Carmelite Missionary School Institute in 1878, after moved to Barcelona. Carmelites - Theresian missionaries settled in Tarragona. On January 21, 1880, the archbishop of Benito Villamethana conferred the status of the institution of diocesan law on the community. [3]
The first monastery of the congregation outside the borders of Spain was opened in 1896 in Argentina. The next monastery was opened in Uruguay. In 1958, the institute opened missions in Congo and Mali. [3]
By a decree of February 17, 1902, Pope Leo XIII approved the activities of the institute. Under Pope Pie X June 17, 1906, the constitutions of the congregation were finally approved. [2]

Carmelites - Theresian missionaries lead a contemplative and apostolic lifestyle, caring for elderly and sick people and engaged in Christian upbringing and youth education.
Congregational Patrons
The main patroness of the congregation is the Mother of God of Carmel . Another patroness of the institute is Saint Theresa of Jesus (Aumada-i-Cepeda). The founder of the institute, Francis of Jesus-Mary-Joseph, was blessed on April 24, 1988 .
