Gameplay
The game is a survival horror / first-person shooter with an emphasis on stealth and survival. The main tasks of the player are to avoid zombies and use resources wisely. Cartridges are rare, so exploration of the partially open world is encouraged. In addition to cartridges, you can find other useful items, such as bandages.
Like other games of the genre, such as ZombiU , even one zombie can easily defeat the protagonist , especially considering that he can materialize behind him. Weapon shooting and light can be used as a method of attracting zombies. In addition, enemies are sensitive to the smell of the player. However, the player can sneak up behind them and commit a “silent” kill.
During the game, you can make a group of mercenaries, up to four characters. Mercenaries can be sent to collect items. Each survivor has a unique set of stats that determines whether the character can survive in the extraction of resources. Sometimes partners must be left behind.
Story
The game begins with a scene by the stream, where a certain Dixon goes hunting with several other survivors. Suddenly, screams are heard, and Dixon returns to the camp. A lot of walkers gathered at the camp, eating one of the members of the group. Walkers notice Dixon and attack him, stretching his stomach. His brother, Jess, and his son, Daryl, run up to Dickson. Jess is bitten right there. After cracking down on the walkers, Jess tells Daryl that everyone is dead.
After a while, Jess and Daryl move to a small hut. Daryl is furious, but Jess says they need to move on, after which the survivors get to the car and leave. On the way, they find themselves in different cities and meet many different survivors who need help. Soon they get to one of the former camps captured by the walking people. After wandering around the camp and finding the necessary things, Daryl returns to the car and finds Jess who has already turned. Killing him, Daryl continues on his own.
Daryl arrives in Fontana in the hope of finding his older brother, Merle, who is in custody. Daryl comes to the police station, but never finds a brother. Over time, he hears shots coming from the roof. Climbing, he finds Merle, who shoots a sniper rifle at living people. Merle says he thinks these are soldiers, and they want to put him in jail again, from where he escaped a few days ago. The brothers continue their journey together ...
Merle offers Daryl to deliver them to Merl's Wild Brothers gang in Barksdale. When the Dixons got to the gang's bar, Merle flies off the coils, finding out that he was imprisoned because of the betrayal of his former partners and picks up two guys. At this time, Daryl enters the bar and, having seen a package of narcotic drugs on the bar, accuses his brother of selfishness. Merle was distracted by Daryl and at that time two more guys flew into the bar and stunned Daryl and took his things, Merle decided to chase after them. When Daryl comes to his senses, he finds a crossbow in the bar and breaks through those walking deep into the town, focusing on shots fired in the distance. But getting to the parking lot, Daryl finds his things, which the bandits threw in a hurry, fighting off Merle and the walking people. Having not found a brother, Daryl decides to continue with Scout, the girl whom Daryl helped in the Fountain.
Scout asks Daryl to deliver her to the Palmetto Estates, where her father is waiting for her. Daryl helps her and heads deeper into the Palmetto Estates. The city is full of walkers, but from the survivors he found in the city, Daryl learns that the only place where the survivors will be helped by the military is Atlanta. Daryl decided to head to Fayersayn stadium - the largest evacuation point of Atlanta. But as it turned out, there are more walking people in Atlanta than in those cities where Daryl has been since the outbreak. But despite this, Daryl decided to break into the stadium. An emergency evacuation was carried out on the field of the stadium and Daryl begins to defend one helipad while the pilot prepares for take-off. There are more and more walkers, but Merle comes out of nowhere in a military jeep. Daryl takes a seat behind the machine gun and cleans the platform from the walking. The helicopter is ready to take off, but Merle does not want to land on it and does not let her brother. As a result, the helicopter flies away without the Dixons, which angered Daryl, but Merle reassures his brother, saying that the pilot was already bitten and almost turned into a walker. Brothers get in a jeep and leave Atlanta.
