Dakuk (Tauk) [1] ( Arabic: داقوق ) is a city in northern Iraq located in the territory of Kirkuk governorate. The administrative center of the eponymous district.

Geographical position
The city is located in the southeastern part of the governorate, in the valley of the Tauk River ( Tigris Basin), at an altitude of 225 meters above sea level [2] .
Dakuk is located at a distance of approximately 28 kilometers south of Kirkuk , the provincial capital, and at a distance of 192 kilometers north of Baghdad , the country's capital.
Population
As of 2012, the city population was 13,626 people [3] [4] . Turks predominate in the national composition, Shiite Muslims in the confessional.
