Babuyan [2] is a volcano located on the island of the same name in the province of Cagayan , Philippines . Another name is Mount Smith volcano.

Babuyan Claro is a stratovolcano with a height of 688 meters. Next to it is the higher slag cone Pangasun , reaching a height of 1080 meters. Located 100 kilometers north of the island of Luzon . Next to it are 4 volcanoes that formed at different times during the period of 1.7 million years - the Holocene . All volcanoes are composed of andesites and basalts . Babuyan is the youngest of these volcanoes. Its lava reaches an area of 3 km². Eruptions of the Strombolian and phreatomagmatic type. On the slopes of the volcano are hot springs. The slopes are covered with rainforest.
In 1980, a landslide occurred at an altitude of 600 m northwest of the volcano, which damaged nearby roads and destroyed rice fields. Locals were evacuated.
