Literacy is a national magazine published in Russian in the Russian Empire from 1861 to 1876.

The Gramotey magazine was published in the city of Moscow at the Kushnerov and K ° printing house from October 1861 with five issues per year, and from 1865 to 1866 - 6 books a year, and from 1869 this periodical was published monthly.
The magazine was founded by Ivan Nikolaevich Kushnerov [3] , and its editor was Nikolai Frantsevich Savich .
N. M. Bogomolov, N. A. Maev , V. Yu. Skalon , D. N. Sadovnikov, and others posted their articles in the journal. In 1873, the Russian poet Spiridon Dmitrievich Drozhzhin debuted in the journal Literacy.
At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century , the following review was given to the printed edition on the pages of the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopaedic Dictionary :
“The early years of G. represents a curious attempt by a national journal, which, while adapting itself to the reader, introduces him into the circle of modern life; but later he turned simply into a periodic collection of articles, mostly fictional, and although it includes the names of Reshetnikov, Levitov, some teachers and other fairly well-known writers, his special purpose - to be a national journal - as if disappeared ” [1] .
At the end of 1876, the last issue of Literacy magazine [1] was published.
