Geographical position
The city is located in the northern part of the governorate, on the left bank of the Euphrates River, at an altitude of 11 meters above sea level [1] .
Huwair is located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Basra , the provincial capital, and 368 kilometers southeast of Baghdad , the country's capital.

As of 2012, the population of the city was 10,339 people [2] [3] .
